HOW WE DO IT

The Energy Solidarity Co-op (ESC) is a multi-stakeholder cooperative providing energy consulting services and incubating community power. There are three types of participating members: workers, consumers and sustainers.

Our worker members are energy practitioners offering technical and policy-oriented services in energy management, energy planning, and renewable energy deployment to a range of commercial, institutional, and industry clients. In addition, we offer tools and services that support the development and management of community power projects for our consumer members.

Our consumer members are community individuals and organizations coming together to own and operate renewable energy systems, such as solar photovoltaics, within their neighborhoods. Instead of focusing on single households, our members bring together their collective interests and potential.

Our sustainer members are community investors who can browse and select community power projects to support through a crowd-funding model. Taking an innovative approach that combines financial, technical and organizational resources from these three member types, the ESC is building community power from the ground up.

FLAGSHIP PROJECTS

To showcase our energy service portfolio and our commitment to community power incubation, the ESC has three open-source and interactive 'flagship projects' currently in development:
